Update: Legal Issues in Forensic Accounting
PROGRAM
The issue of forensic accounting can be extremely helpful in various
investigations. We will explore the use of data extraction software
in both internal fraud and accounting frauds, as well as a review
of how these techniques were used in various specific circumstances.
We will also review a brief history of certain cases that relate
to the use of experts in trial testimony circumstances, the right
way and the wrong way.

Ethical Issues That Can Arise When

PROGRAM
This course will explore the issues that may face an attorney
in the use of an expert. It will include traditional issues of
conflicts of interest, suborning perjury, and a review for several
cases and the implications for the attorney in ethical dilemmas.

How to Read & Understand
Financial
Statements
PROGRAM
An understanding of financial statements for the non-financial
attorney can be critical in understanding the economic implications
for a transaction, a lawsuit and many other questions a client
brings to legal counsel. How to recognize the issues within a financial
statement will be addressed including understanding the balance
sheet, the income statement, the statement of cash flows and key
ratios.

Sarbanes-Oxley Act –
A Primer for
Legal Counsel
PROGRAM
Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) was
passed in 2002; most of the underlying regulations were completed
or proposed in 2003 and the impact went into effect in 2003
and 2004. Clients will look to their legal counsel for assistance
in implementing SOX.
